Gather your friends, bring the family and enjoy a free Family Day at White Bay Power Station, filled with imagination, creativity and hands‑on art experiences for all ages. With engaging workshops, interactive artworks and food‑filled fun, it’s the perfect family outing in Sydney these school holidays.
GUL Collective: Stories in Threads
Join a joyful, hands‑on textile workshop for families exploring memory, place and belonging. Using colourful threads, reclaimed fabrics and soft fibres, participants will create embroidered patches and small mesh pouches inspired by meaningful places — from grandparents’ homes and neighbourhood streets to gardens and countries of origin.
Led by artists from the GUL Collective, this inclusive, intergenerational workshop welcomes all skill levels and celebrates creative making as a way to connect across cultures and generations. Families can also choose to contribute their piece to a growing community artwork — a living tapestry of shared stories.
NIDO Early School: Art Baby
Young creatives are invited to take part in two large‑scale collaborative paintings. One draws inspiration from the expressive movement of Vincent van Gogh, while the other celebrates storytelling and cultural connection through the work of Garrwa / Yanyuwa artist Nancy Yukuwal McDinny.
Budding artists can also take home a mini clay kit, encouraging creativity to continue long after the day ends. This activation reflects NIDO Early School’s commitment to nurturing artistic expression from the very start.
Free Face Painting by Angel’s Artistry
11am – 4pm
Add an extra splash of colour to your Family Day with free face painting by Angel’s Artistry. From butterflies and tigers to shimmering stars and magical creatures, children and adults alike can transform their look before exploring the exhibitions or joining a workshop.
You’ll find face painting in the vibrant Memory Lane Markets area.
